So as well as blocking Tumblr, it seems like some ISPS are blocking the Internet Archive now as well. At least I think they are.....reports of it not working in the UK have been increasing since last year, and I've personally now not been able to access it for three or four days. It came back briefly for one day, and then disappeared again and has been inacessable since......
BlueSky now wants me to verify with Photo ID to see my own private messages. I had to take a picture of my face so I can play 18 rated games on Xbox.
But Tumblr not being able to afford age verification measures, or being unwilling to implement them anyway, is the biggest issue right now, with a lot of websites images being blocked by that big sign I mentioned in my very first Countdown post this year.
I don't have a problem with the government trying to protect young web users. I think it's long past time that such features were brought in. But it needs to be waaaaay better implemented. Too many sites that have adult only content contained within, but aren't specifically used for that purpose (ie, the Internet Archive and Tumblr) are being targeted as problems, but they've done nothing about Twitter which has far worse content and is also the biggest poisoner of young minds on the internet right now!!
Anyway, with not having access to the Internet Archive, and with the Digital Comic Museum seemingly down for the day as well, I'm going to post some more cards from Pinterest while I can, just in case that disappears next week too!
Be sure to check out the other bloggers taking part in the Countdown! The Land of Cerpts and Honey has a nice video on forgotten Halloween traditions to share with you today for instance...but to check out the rest, click the badge below and be whisked off to the hub!
