So I was sitting down ready to do a big Gruesome Games post, and then a lightbulb popped up above my head and I got a flash of inspiration.....an idea, as it where....and so, no....we're not doing Gruesome Games today..in fact there will be no more Gruesome Games in this year's Countdown at all.....
"What!?" I hear you exclaim! Well, all will hopefully be revealed as to why on Halloween itself...
In the meantime, though, we just got a load of food delivered...and lots of it has a decidedly spooky theme, so let's take a look at some of that instead!!
First up is something I've been snacking on since I was a tiny little nipper...not the same packet, obviously, as that would be quite something...no, I mean, these things have been around pretty much for as long as I can remember!
It's Monster Munch! The delicious corn snack shaped like little monster feet! The packaging doesn't normally look like that, normally it looks like this....
A you can see, three monsters usally adorn the crisp packets, and indeed they do even in the new multipacks, but these monsters , one for each flavour, disappeared for a while and were replaced with poor replaements....only to reappear a few years back to great fanfare and delight. the flavours have changed somewhat over the years though, as can be seen here and in some of these adverts, which should also show you why most people were annoyed when they changed the monsters!
Weirdly, Walkers who make Monster Munch have also made another snack, Wotsits, spooky for Halloween......which they did about ten years ago when the made them Zombie Fingers..this time they've just put a zombie hand and a pumpkin on the packaging though...
Also a bit weird, is the fact that Walkers rcently teamed up with Heinz, of Baked Bean and multiple sauces fame, to release various sandwich-flavoured crisps, and what Heinz get out of the deal seems to be some Monster Munch themed Mayo! How odd!
Anyway, moving on from speaking way too long about corn snacks, here's just some normal, run-of-mill bread, made by Warburtons....only for Halloween they've changed their name to War-boo-tons and put pumpkins on the bag!
Next up is some Cadbury's Mini Rolls, that have also been slightly spooked up for the season....
And here's some Halloween-themed Doughnuts, which my brother has already nabbed one of.....
I also had a can of Fanta the other day that had Jenna Ortega's face plastered all over it, because apparently they have a promotion with Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice.....

Great stuff. Love the Halloween themed items. Those Monster Munch characters give me big 70s animation vibes.
ReplyDeleteApparently they first appeared the same year as me, 1977, so that's why you'll be getting the '70s vibes!
DeleteThe only Fanta can we got in Japan was the striped can with Betelgeuse on it. Not very good, sickly sweet. Flavour was green.
