Look what I found on a visit to the Digital Comic Museum tonight! It's basically Puppet Master before Puppet Master.....
It comes from American Comis Group's Adventures Into The Unknown, Issue 2, dated December 1948/January 1949 and was uploaded to the archive by the user, Aratak, so thanks go to them for the original scans....

What a happy ending for Ralph and Gloria. Wasn't it clever of Ralph to find source material on how to destroy marionette puppets? For a playboy, he has a nerdy side.
ReplyDeleteSpecifically marionette puppet ghosts! I mean, that's a pretty niche topic to be finding information on within 24 hrs back in the forties! :D
DeleteWhere would one have looked? The library of congress? Newspaper archives? The Dewey decimal system? Maybe he knew a guy who had experience with marionette puppet ghosts.
DeleteI reckon it must just have been a regular occurence back then. Maybe everybody was dealing with marionette puppet ghosts, so there were articles in the Reader's Digest on how to deal with them beside the articles on "How to increase your word power!" or something....
