Wow! That year rolled around fast!
As you can probably tell by my, and a lot of fellow bloggers, sudden appearances after months of few posts, Spooky Season is upon us again and so it's time to dust the cobwebs off the blog and get posting all sorts of Halloween-ish horrors for the next 31 days!
As always, I'll use this first post as a catch-up on what's been happening in the world of me for the last few months, and then get on with the real start of the Countdown in the next post....
So, a few things to note before we get started. First, the dreaded curse of the blog has pre-empted October this year, with a traditional bout of toothache threatening to derail my plans before I even get started. It would seem a visit to the dentist is in order soon, and as I know that I need quite a bit of work on at least three teeth, I might need to plan ahead to cover any days where I might be nursing a sore face. We'll see how it goes with that...
Second, my motivation has been generally a bit off this year, thanks to some family drama, which I may or may not go into in more depth at a later date, but let's just say that it involves alcohol, an elderly father with a problem and lots of stress and bother for my family, which is ongoing and has already eaten up waaaay too much time for everyone. Help has been sought with these issues, and so hopefully things will quieten down there, but I'm just telling you all about it as it may impact the blog at some point if I have to deal with any new issues involving the same problems.
Note number three involves some UK government shenanigans, as they've only gone and made age verification a thing on all websites now, so I've had to prove my age to Xbox, Steam, and various other places where horror games and films exist, which is a nuisance, but I don't really have an issue with that, as it is probably required to protect kids. Where it becomes more of a problem though, is with websites who can't afford to pay up for fines for not having age verification, like Imgur and Spacehey, which means they are no longer accessible in the UK...and neither are their images! This means I'm already seeing issues with the blog, as a lot of the previous badges and post on blogger used Imgur as the host site, and now these are replaced with a big "NOT AVAILABLE IN YOUR REGION" image. So if any of you are using Imgur, just know that none of us UK followers can see your pics hosted there anymore!
Note number four...well, no, actually lets just wait until my post later today for that one....I hinted, somewhat poorly, at it a few posts back, with a picture of my avatar, a stream and an Inn....what could this mean???? Find out in the next post...
Oh, also, I did actually manage to find enough cash to splash out on that documentary Terror Bytes, and so my name can now be found in the credits of what is a pretty awesome 5 part series about horror games that comes heavily recommended if you're even remotely interested in such things!
